COVID-19 Recovery

Dear Friends,

Alongside each of you, Oregon Community Foundation is actively monitoring and responding to the rapid spread of COVID-19, and we share the concern and uncertainty we all are experiencing related to the virus. OCF is working diligently to understand the emerging needs of our communities to provide immediate support to those that have been impacted by the novel coronavirus. We understand many of you have questions for us, and we hope this communication will provide the information you need.

All OCF staff are working remotely and all priority OCF events, meetings or convenings will be held virtually. In support of nonprofits, OCF has initiated the following:

Active grants

  • Grant periods and reporting deadlines for all active grants is extended to March 31, 2021.
    • This extended deadline will not impact your eligibility for new funding.
  • We recognize that COVID-19 may disrupt your organization’s ability to operate as planned. Consequently grant-related activities — services, projects, convenings or reporting — may need to be amended. Our goal is to provide as much flexibility as we can so that our grantees can address their—and their community’s—most pressing needs. However, given the legal complexity of funding streams that a community foundation combines to provide grant awards, we may not have the ability to adjust all grants. Program staff are working to determine which current grant purposes may be changed in light of current disruptions, while still maintaining the donor intent of the funds that support those grants. More information is coming soon. For questions, contact grants.

Open applications

  • The Community Grants cycle is moving forward as planned. Submitted applications are currently under review. Organizations selected for awards in this cycle will be notified, and to the degree possible, will be given the opportunity to shift the purpose of award funds to the most pressing needs of their organization and/or community.
  • If you have submitted an application to another program or initiative, we will reach out to you directly to communicate any relevant changes.

New COVID-19 funding

  • OCF established the Oregon Community Recovery Fund in collaboration with partners throughout the State. This grant program will rapidly deploy funds to nonprofit organizations in Oregon that have been affected by the outbreak of COVID-19. OCF is committed to making funding decisions in a timely manner and this fund will remain open. As we work to define the funding guidelines, we hope to use this as an opportunity to hear from you so we can better understand the impact on communities across Oregon. Learn more about the program here. Visit the FAQ for questions and regular updates.
  • OCF is diligently working to identify needs and establish additional COVID-19 related funding opportunities.

Ways to stay informed

We are incredibly inspired by how Oregonians are coming together to swiftly respond to this unprecedented issue. These are challenging times and we truly appreciate your patience as we organize to support our vision for a healthy, thriving and sustainable Oregon.
